Am I the only one who thought a 10k bond was going to cost me 10k instead of just $45?! Why isn't that ever explained?

I’m in CA. Is it possible to work 8am-3pm Monday-Friday and still make decent money? Some people are saying you can make six figures, but with my kids, I have limited hours and wondering if getting licensed is worth the investment.
